That Which Might Have Been, Birmingham 1963 was created in reaction to the bombing of a Sunday school in Birmingham, Alabama, that resulted in the deaths of four young girls.  You may visit John Waddell's masterpiece and listen to an audio presentation about the creation of this work at Carver.  For group reservations, please contact us.  We are happy to work with you to make your visit possible.

The Gwendolyn L. Smith Memorial Library is a research library with newspapers, magazines and other texts related to African American heritage and culture.  Rent the library and board room for your next event, or set an appointment to come and conduct research.  The library is an affiliate of the City of Phoenix Public Library and the collection of over 1,400 titles that focus on African American life, culture and history.
